Our dog and some weird behavior

Question
Hi Sharon,
We have a four year old, male german shephard mix named Magic. We also have four cats. They all get along well. Magic is a happy, well trained family dog. He loves people and especially kids. A great watch dog also in that he alerts us to any sound that he picks up that could be someone approaching the house. Recently, for about 3 months, he has been either reluctant, possibly even afraid, to leave rooms or areas of the house. Examples: He used to jump up onto our bed when we called him. He would jump off when he wanted to go elsewhere. Now he will just stand and kind of wimper. If he sleeps in our daughters room he won't get off of the rug surrounding her bed in the morning. He appears to want to come, but afraid of leaving the area. The same behavior occurs sometimes when attmpting to navigate a doorway from one room to another, or from a room to a hallway. Sometimes we have to push him through to get him going. Then he seems fine. Any ideas? Thanks for any advice.

Answer
Hello Pete -

This sounds like a behavioral issue that may have been suppressed. I can't really give you much detail as to why this has occurred but I can tell you to look into the Bach Flower Essences for an answer.

Flower essence therapy works on a similar mechanism as homeopathy. Parts of the flower are diluted and then potentised to become effective. The flower essences are found in liquid form. Thus, the remedies work on an energetic level, similar to homeopathy, acupuncture and Reiki. They affect the mental and emotional parts of our being. Dr. Bach felt that physical illness can be caused by emotional upset and by fixing the emotional balance the physical illness disappeared.

Flower essences work to heal physical, mental and emotional illness. All of the aforementioned illnesses affect each other in one way or another. Therefore, flower essences restore the inner balance by working on the vital force. The vital force is an inner force within the body that governs our strength and well-being. As we get sick our vital force weakens and therefore, the flower essences work on our vital force to strengthen it. The particles of the essences work in specific patterns. This means that certain essences cure certain illnesses. Overall, flower essence are to said to release negative emotions and help heal and calm, using either internally or externally non toxic and have no side effects.

There are a variety of the essences that can be blended for various behavioral conditions. Many of my clients have tried Flower Essences with their pets and have had outstanding results.

If you would like to go further with this is issue with me, please contact me at wintersaurora@yahoo.com. I can't give you much more advice with out having a little more history on your pet. I am sorry, behavioral conditions are difficult to diagnose and at times cannot be pinpointed to a direct cause. I will be more then happy to help you further if you are interested and can look into a possible herbal remedy for you.

Again, I am sorry I cannot help you deeper.

Thank you and best wishes to you and your pet.

Sincerely,
