-----Question-----
HI, I have a pair of lovebirds that have started breeding, or at least it seems that way, the female sets up the nest, and is very protective, and lys 1-3 eggs, she does sit on them but they never hatch. I have had to throw out 2 sets so far and wonder if maybe they are not fertilized or if something else is going on. Everything they do is normal behavior from what i can see, but the eggs never hatch. I am thinking about getting an incubater to try and hatch them out myself. Any thoughts on this?
Thanks very much

Hello Jada and thank you for your post.

How long do you let her keep the eggs?  It usually takes about 20 days for an egg to hatch, so let her keep them for at least that long.
It is possible that they are not fertilized, and that's why they don't hatch.  I would not get an incubator just yet.  Wait and see what happens with her next clutch.

Good luck and God Bless.

Answer
Hi Jada.
Keep a watch on these eggs.  They still might hatch.  If they do not, then she is probably not willing to breed with her mate, so she is laying unfertilized eggs.
It may even take a couple of more clutches of eggs before any of them hatch.

Please keep me informed on how the situation is coming along.

God Bless.
