Lovebird Eggs

Question
My daughter has a brother and sister pair of lovebirds in one cage. The female has just laid some eggs. I don't think the eggs are viable and should be disposed of. My daughter thinks every thing will work out great. Please give us some facts to end the debate

Answer
Hello,
Since the Lovebirds are brother and sister, I would crack and get rid of the eggs. The eggs will be fertile, but since the birds are related, the chicks that hatch might be sick and defective. I would not let the eggs grow and hatch.

Hope this helps,
Carly ;)
