untame cockatiel and tame cockatiel

Question
hello,
I curently have a cockatiel and 2 budgies living in the same cage that is 3ft x 3ft x 2 ft. the cockatiel named Jack and one of the budgies named Bobby I rescued from an awful home in a tiny cage. Then I bought Teddy, for Bobby.I sucsessfully trained the budgies and they have formed a great bond with eachother. Now for Jack... he hates people. I have tried to earn his trust (for the past 6 months) with no improvement. He loves the budgies and always scuttles down the perch to get close to them. He is usually rewarded for his efforts with nips and packs from them. I found a great hand feeding bird store that has cockatiels available. The lady at the store said that I couldn't put a hand fed bird in the same cage as an untamed bird. She said the hand fed bird would become wild. I have information that cntredicts hers, but I won't get the bird unless I can be sure that I will have a companion and so will Jack, and I can give the new bird a good quality life. thanks for your time
Sincerely ,
Emily

Answer
Hello Emily, well she is partly correct, if you put a handfed or other tame cockatiel for that matter in with untame cockatiels and don't handle the new guy much then he will become untame, it is not crule to put them together... not at all they will love you for it but I must warn you now that putting a tame bird with anyother bird of its spieces will result in a less tame bird, if you house the enw guy seprately then he may be more tame but will still always try to fly over to the others adn squak to them if in a didffernt room, for the best pet I reccomedn a handfed newly weaned love bird, bourkes parrkeet, quaker parrkeet or parolot it will need its own cage but it will bond soley with you.
