Question
I know cockatiels aren't your experties but I really need some help, and I thought maybe you could help. I have a cockatiel, what I think is a female, but my family and I want to get a male. But I don`t know for sure if she`s a female. She is only 8 months old so she hasn`t layed any eggs. She is a very light yellow, with bright yellow cheeks, and she has a bright yellow crest. Please let me know from this discription if you could figure this out for me. Thanks.

Answer
As you has pointed out cockatiels that I don't know a lot of, but from the age it look like you need to have patience. From the description it for me impossible to tell if it a boy or a girl. You need an expert to tell what to look for if you want to do it by description or behavior. There are two other ways one by sending up a feather for DNA, ask your local vet how to it. Of let an experienced birdvet look at it. Sometimes at birdshows it is offered as a service. It is called endoscopy or laparoscopy.
