spot on beak

My budgie was acting a little sick a few weeks ago so I put him on over the counter antibiotics from the pet store.  He has developed a dark spot on his beak.  What is causing this spot and should I be concerned.  He seems fine in all other ways right now.

Hello Sandy and thank you for your post.
The dark spot on your bidgie's beak could be from the antibiotics that you'd had him on.  I never suggest using OTC antibiotics for birds as they might not even need them.
I do always recommend, however, that if your bird is sick, then it should be seen by a Certified Avian Vet or an Exotic Animal Vet.  There might be something totally different that is wrong with a bird that only a vet that has been trained for birds can find.
Keep a watch on the spot.  If it gets bigger, then take your bird into a Certified Avian Vet right away.
