Question
OK! That makes sense. Keep pelleted food in all the time and feed the soft serve twice a day, then give them seed for snacking when the finish the soft food. =)

Back to the wing clipping. How often does this need to be done?

OK! That all makes sense! I'm glad I asked because I did have an item that fit that description perfectly!

One last question (for now!) How many times a day do birds eat? And when? OK, that was two, but oh well :)

I'll try to get those pictures and that information tomorrow. I'm busy all day today, so wont be able to do that 'til tomorrow

Hi again, Lillian.

Parrots eat several times per day because their stomachs aren't very big.  Therefore, they have to eat fairly often.  This is why it's best to keep pellets in their cage 24/7, then once per day offer them soft food mix.  With pellets and a water bottle, you can go away for a day or so and not worry about your birds being fed (missing a day of soft food won't hurt them any)!   They eat whenever they are hungry (and some are hungry all the time!).  The natural way is for them to eat first thing in the morning (after sleeping all night, they are hungry when they wake up), then at dusk/dinner time (so they can get full for the night).  They usually "snack" throughout the day.

Taking care of birds is a whole lot of common sense with specific bird-related information thrown in.

Answer
Lillian...it's not necessary to feed soft food twice per day, unless you want to!  Once per day is sufficient.

When the flight feathers grow back in, you'll need to clip them again.  The length of time it takes for these to grow back varies between birds, depending on their health, etc.  When your birds are able to gain altitude when they fly, the flight feathers need to be clipped again.  This isn't something you have to do weekly...would be more like every couple/few months, depending on the bird.
