Cockatiel Broken Feather

My cockatiel has a broken wing feather and it appears to be bleeding a small amount. He is in some pain when he flies. I know a blood feather is dangerous but I've been lucky and never had to deal with that type if injury. If it is a blood feather, how do I remove it without danger?

If you have never dealt with a broken blood feather before- I would try to get your bird into an avian vet today to have it removed. However, here are some articles with information on how to handle the blood feather at home (in case you can't get to a vet's office right away):
