Question
QUESTION: I have had my budgie for a month but he still gets scared at the thought of people. What is a way that I can get him use to me??
         please help
ANSWER: Hello Lauren and thank you for your post.
Try cutting back on it's food a bit so that you can use this as a coaxing tool.
It's going to take some time, but you'll actually be able to coax him onto your hand with food.  If he gets hungry enough, he will take the food out of your hand, but please, do NOT starve your bird to do this.  Just cut back a bit on his food.  It takes time, patience, and consistancy to be able to train a bird, especially a small bird like a parakeet/budgie.
Make sure to talk to your bird in a soft, gentle voice.  This will also help to gain his trust in you.

Good luck and God Bless.

QUESTION: Hi it's me again. Thanks for that advice and it DID work.
Dianna is now very tame, she can also say "hello baby"
I was just wondering is it safe to feed a budgie any sort of fruit/veg. Is it normal for a budgie to drink from a bird bath and bath in a drinking container.
THANKS AGAIN FOR THE GOOD ADVICE

Answer
Hi again Lauren.
I'm glad that it worked.  This is a method that I use on the birds that come into my home, and it has not failed me yet.
Your budgie can have quite a variety of fruits and vegetables.  One of the favorites of my birds is dandelion greens.  My birds also love apples and seedless grapes.

All of my birds would rather bathe in their water dishes than use a bird bath.  You just have to make sure that you change the drinking water more frequently.  You could also try using another dish just like the drinking dish.  Perhaps she'll bathe in it instead of her drinking water.

Keep up with the good work  :)

God Bless.
