Question
How big should a cage be for one love bird?

Answer
Hi.  Thanks for posting your question.  Cage size for a bird depends on how much time the bird spends inside and outside the cage.  If allowed to spend a good part/most of the day outside the cage, cage only needs to be large enough for bird to sleep, eat, etc.  If bird spends all it's time in the cage, the bigger the better!  At bare minimum, cage size should allow a bird to freely flap it's wings without touching any part of the cage (top, sides, bottom), and should also be large enough that droppings don't fall into feed/water dishes when bird is perched.

When selecting bird cages, remember that birds fly horizontally versus vertically.  Your best choice is a cage that is more wide than tall.  It's hard to find these type cages on the market (surf the net), so I make my own cages (you can buy everything you need at a hardware store).

If you need more info, please contact me again.  Thanks.
