Question
My husband and I would like to know how we find out the sex in our 4 month old homing pigeons that we currently own. We can't seem to find out anything can you help us.

Answer
Hello Lokelani.  Thank you for your post.
There are only two ways to tell for sure what the sex of your homing pigeons are.
The first way is to have a DNA test done.  The results are 99.999% accurate, and the test is inexpensive.
The only other way is to wait and see if they lay eggs, but that could take up to 2 years.
You might be able to tell by looking at them while they're perched.  The females legs will be spread further apart than the male's.  It'll be difficult to see, you have to really look closely, but I do believe that a pigeon is one of the birds that you can the sex of this way (although I have never done it myself).  I do know that with certain breeds of birds, like lovebirds for instance, you can tell this way.

Good luck and God Bless.
