egg laying

Question
i have got a diamond dove for christmas. about 36 hrs or a little more ago my dove layed an egg and i dont know if it fertilized or not. please help me by telling me everything you know about the egg laying habit and how long they are pregnant for and stuff like that. any and all info will help.

Hi,

Birds do not get pregnant like mammals do. So, if there is no male bird in the cage with her, the egg is infertile. Male birds fertilize the eggs the same day they are layed.
