Question
I have both read and heard about not breeding a red belly parrot to a senegal parrot.  It has been said to be not desirable or "dangerous".  Is this to keep the breeds pure or is it some medical reason?  Red bellies and senegals are both members of the poicephalus families.  I have seen cross breeding in the conure type parrots, ie a sun conure bred to a jenday to produce a "sunday" conure.  why not the same with the poicephalus?

Answer
Hello Sara and thank you for your post.
Here is a link that might be of help to answering your question.
www.lostmymarblz.com/fl-breeding-crossbrd.htm

This should help give a better explanation of why not to cross breed sub-species of parrots.

Please come back if you have any more questions.

Good luck and God Bless.
