QuestionMy pregnant mini dachshund is 65 days from first tie today. I am concerned because she is showing no signs of labor yet. The only thing I have seen is a clear mucous like discharge coming out of her for the past 2 days. She is eating, not nesting, not producing milk, her temps have been in the 99 range. She has shivered a little bit last night and today. Then she stops, and acts fine. She has been lying in her welp box for naps for about a week. She looks huge to me, but I don't know what is normal. She is 2 years old and has had one litter before this one. The lady who gave her to me did not tell me any details about her first labor, and I am no longer able to be in touch with her. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you
AnswerHi Ann
When you do the counting method you have to give a few days either way. Especially on a unfamiliar dam (one where you don't know what her ovulation cycle is like).
Just because she was bred on a certain day, does not necessarily mean she caught on that day. When ovulation occurs it takes 7 days for the egg to mature, and sperm can stay viable for up to 72 hours.
Waiting is always the hardest.
Good luck
