Question
I have a 6 year old boxer and 3 female boxers. Somehow 2 of my females went on heat at the same time. Now, I don't understand but my male boxer have lost all interest. He licks and sniffs but he that's all he does. I know he mated once before. I have even tried helping by mounting him and all and nothing works. The females seem to be ready to me, they do not reject him and they are both on their second week. What can I do to help?

Answer
Hi. It could be that the girls aren't at the right part of their cycle to be bred yet. A good stud dog will know when, and won't mess with them much until then. I just had a girl come out of heat, the first week, my male completely ignored her until she was at the point of being ready to be bred. What day exactly are they on right now? Usually, most breeders try on days 11 and 13, or on days 12 and 14 of the cycle. When their vulva has softened up, and their bleeding has slowed down and lightened in color, they should be ready to be bred. Good luck!
