Pregnant Malamute wont eat!!

Question
Hi Renee, I really need to ask your advice about my 2 year old Alaskan Malamute bitch. Her breeder and I are good friends and she recently gave me one of her mals as she's slightly smaller than average, therefore she can't be shown.
Her breeder had already decided that she would like to breed the Mal as her lines are fantastic, but her heat didn't start until after she was homed with me, then I took her to the breeders to be mated. She was mated on the 30th and 31st July (day 13 and 14 of her heat as she wasn't ready before then. She was at the breeders from day 10).
It's now 3 weeks from her first mating. I think she's pregnant as she's even more clingy and "girly" than normal. The problem is that she's a very fussy eater and always has been!! She was fed on a diet of raw and complete when she lived at the breeders but I'm very unsure of doing this as the whole idea of her not getting all she needs from her food, in case I don't give the right foods, worries me greatly. I tried her on a very good premium holistic food that I always use and it was a no-goer unless there was wet dog food mixed in with it...even then she'd still pick at it. I changed yesterday to another very good food and she ate really well last night but today, zilch! I ended up making her boiled chicken and rice and she cleared the bowl! (It seems to be more a case of "I know what I want and I'm not eatig til you give me it"!) I don't want to give her that throughout the pregnancy as I know it's not enough for her nutrition wise. Can you recommend anything I could do to make her want to eat this food, ie anything I could add in or should I feed her a good raw diet (she'll eat raw meat) as I've a very good recipe in a booklet from a company which specialises in natural veterinary herbal medicines and dietry supplements (I got this booklet from my vets as they stock this companys' products).
I would feed the raw diet but I'm scared of her not eating the morning feed which is made up of a good quality wholemeal biscuit or flaked cereal which can be fed with natural yoghurt, cottage cheese or soaked in a little stock. If there's no meat...she won't eat... and if she's pregnant I can't do the usual, which is just lifting it away until dinner and trying again etc etc. I'm a dog trainer but this is the first time I've bred and I'm stumped. I'm really worried. any help would be much appreciated...believe me.
Sorry for the length of this, i wanted to make sure I'd included all relevant details.
Thank you,
Alison.

Answer
Hi. I'll admit, I don't feed raw for the same reasons you stated, I'm scared of not doing it right. I don't know much about raw feeding, but I do have some great links on it if you'd like, just give me a day or so to find them, my computer crashed and I'll still putting everything back. What you can try, is feeding her Taste of the wild. You can get it at a Tractor Supply if you have one close to you, or a large pet stoore chain may have it as well. It is a bit pricey, but it is GREAT food. It's kind of like raw. It works great on picky eaters as well. My sister has a siberian Huskey who was low weight, small for her size, didn't want to eat much. She started her on this food, and the dog is completely different. She is a great eater now, has put on weight and has actually grown some. If you don't want to use this food, or can't get it, then try adding beef broth, cottage cheese, or grave over the food you are currently feeding. No offense, but before you start her on that stuff the vet carries, talk to someone who is weel versed with raw feeding to see if it's the right thing for your dog. Vets will push whatever food or supplemtents are in their clinic, even the great vets do it. Talk to your breeder and see what she thinks. I wish I could have been of beter help!
