Question
Hi my Jack Russell is in labour this is her 3rd litter and she is 5 . I am getting quiet concerned as she had her first pup at 615pm it is now 2 hours later and no more have come i can feel at least another 3 in there she isn't pushing or strianing and does not seem to be in distress how long can it take between pups being born and how long is to long to wait plz help thanks

Answer
Hi Yvonne

It can take 2 minutes or 2 hours, it depends on the placement of pups, how far up they are.  The rule of thumb is generally 2 hours and then a shot of oxytocin is administered to get things moving along.

You can also walk her around and give her vanilla ice cream, both will help get things started again.

Good luck
