Hello, I have a 10 month old Beagle bitch, she has had her first season and has over the last couple of weeks had quite full breasts, she had her season about 1 month ago now but her breasts have become quite full in the last couple of weeks do you know if this is a sign of anything?

Hi Aaron -- it sounds like a false pregnancy and is common in dogs.  The female will often produce milk, engage in nesting activity and look like she's pregnant. Visible changes take place beginning about 4 weeks after the heat cycle and can last for a number of weeks.

Most false pregnancies can be resolve over a period of three weeks with no treatment. Some however require antibiotics from the vet.
