Mating?

Dear Renee,

My dog is 54days pregnant, but we are not sure if she is pregnent or not. But tonight her mating partner came overr for a visit and they TIED!!!

Can there be damages to her babbies if there are any in there because were not sure, and can she get pregnant when not on heat?

Answer
It's possible that she had what's called a split heat. That's when a dog starts her heat cycle, stops for what ever reason, then starts again a short time later. I would recommend taking her into the vet for a check up. He can figure out what happened, and if she is indeed pregnant.
