Question
My toy poodle stole a fuzzy ball from my cat and it's her new favorite toy. It doesn't look like it has catnip in it but i have no idea. Is is dangorous for her to play with it if its a catnip toy? Thanks

Answer
Copy and paste the following website to learn more about the chemical components of catnip and the effect that it has on your animals. Although I have done no research on the effects of catnip on dogs, I do not personally see how it could harm your toy poodle; however, you may want to check with your veterinarian to make sure. It contains a mild central nervous system stimulant that affects cats, since they have a receptor for this particular chemical, yet I am uncertain if dogs have similiar receptors. You may want to go to the store where you bought the toy and read the back of the container that it came in, if it is dangerous for dogs to play with it should say so. Sorry, I could be of no better assistance, but I would suggest the following website simply for you to gain insight of what catnip is and how it works. It also includes a brief section on how "capnip tea" has been used to treat some human diseases, and that it is effective in repelling some insects.
