catnip bad for dogs?

My toy poodle stole a fuzzy ball from my cat and it's her new favorite toy. It doesn't look like it has catnip in it but i have no idea. Is is dangorous for her to play with it if its a catnip toy? Thanks

Although I have done no research on the effects of catnip on dogs, I do not personally see how it could harm your toy poodle; however, you may want to check with your veterinarian to make sure. It contains a mild central nervous system stimulant that affects cats, since they have a receptor for this particular chemical, yet I am uncertain if dogs have similiar receptors. You may want to go to the store where you bought the toy and read the back of the container that it came in, if it is dangerous for dogs to play with it should say so.
