Question
QUESTION: We have a 9 month old choco. lab, he from time to time will throw-up a white foamy substance.  There is no regularity to it, but does seem to happen around feeding times.  We had thought the two maybe related, ie hunger and growing.  Any thoughts?  Otherwise healthy.  Thanks.

ANSWER: Sounds to me like GERD. Try feeding him more often, smaller meals. Don't let his tummy get empty and see if that helps. Very often they have acid reflux just like we do and an empty tummy will make it happen and make it worse. If this doesn't work get back to me and I'll help you figure it out :)

QUESTION: Thanks Cindi,
From our research that's what we figured.  Currently he gets 2cups twice a day.  He is between 55 and 60lbs, and we don't want to feed him anymore, but it seems to still be happening. Usually in the morning, he gets fed @ 7am and 7pm.  We don't want to feed him any later at night than that. Any suggestions on feeding schedule that may help, so he is not so hungry in the morning?  Thanks.

Answer
I understand that for house training purposes you don't want to feed him later than 7PM. I think I would still try feeding him half his dinner at seven and half at nine to see how he does. Just make sure he goes out about 11pm. I'd also try giving him a snack as EARLY as you can in the morning. If you can feed him part of his breakfast by 5AM so much the better. Or try giving him a treat filled kong or other toy for him to work on during the night. That might keep his tummy settled enough to keep it from happening.
