Question
hello, my walker hound chloe is antisocial around other dogs, shes not aggressive towards them until they sniff her hind-quarters and she doesn't like that at all, she tucks her tail, when other dogs try to play with her she walks away and growls to keep them away from her, is there any advice you could recommend to get her more interactive with other dogs, oh by the way shes 6 yrs old, shes been the only dog in the family for 4 yrs. thats when we rescued her from the animal shelter

Answer
First of all, it is perfectly okay for a bitch to object to another dog sticking its nose up her rear end. And she *will* object unless she is in season and in standing heat. That is normal behavior, and some bitches can get downright nasty about an intrusion into their personal space. This is perfectly acceptable dog behavior (some boys can be rather rude).

As to the other, it would appear that she was not socialized around other dogs as a youngster, and she apparently has no interest in doing so now. Why force her to do that? It will only stress her out. Just do things on a one-on-one basis with her... walking, petting, etc. I'm sure she will be quite happy with that. At six-years-old, some dogs just aren't much into playing any more anyway.
