are there any acceptable forms of childrens cough syrup for dogs??

Hi Amber,
First, please make sure that the coughing is not a more serious problem. If your dog is coughing more than 24 hours, something is wrong and your dog needs to be checked by a Veterinarian.  For one thing, coughing is the most frequent sign of heart disease.  If your dog is coughing, along with rapid breathing and seems to be short of breath, then please see a Vet.  So, after saying that... you can use over the counter cough medicines for dogs if you are careful .  Robitussin Maximum Strength cough syrup can be used, but read the label and make sure that there is no aspirin or acetameinophen in it.  You will need to call your Vet for the correct dosage.  I strongly advise that you talk to a Veterinarian before giving any over the counter meds. It willd depend on the weight of your dog, so you will need to know that. An easy way to get an accurate weight is to first weigh yourself, then hold your dog and weigh.  I hope this helps!
