basset hound breeding

Question
What can you tell me about breeding basset hounds?  Will they free breed or do you have to hand breed them?  Does it matter what colors breed?

Hi Heather,  most Bassets can free breed and as far as colors, it normally doesn't matter as you aren't dealing with blues, merles, whites or harlequins, are the most common colors to have breeding problems with.  Here is a good website http://www.basset.net/ with a bunch of good info on bassets.  Hope this helps,
