Are 2 dogs better together than 1 alone?

Question
Hello.  About 4 months ago, my fiance and I got a chihuahua.  He is now 10 months old.  We both work and are gone most of the day, so he is alone.  We have been talking about purchasing another so that he will have a "friend" to be home with him.  We are often on the go on weekends and bring him with us, and I know that will become more difficult with another dog.  However, I want our puppy to be happy, and not lonesome.  Do you think it would be better for him if there were another pup in the house, and if so, do you think he's still young enough that he'll be receptive to it and not too territorial?

We love animals, and want to make sure that ours is happy!  Whatever is best for him, is what we will do.  Thanks for your help!

btw-I don't know if this matters or not, but if we were to get another dog, it would be the same breed from the same breeder.

Answer
Hello and that is a very good question that you asked. Believe it or not another puppy will do nothing for your dog. You are his pack and another dog may incur a ton of problems. First you have to worry about your dog not accepting another one, then you have to worry about behavioral issues the new pup may have that the older dog may start doing also including housebreaking. Dogs are ok if they are in the house when you are gone because they still smell your scent. He is young enough for another dog, but if you choose to get one, do NOT introduce them in the house, do it outside in the front yard in a neutral place and it is probably better to get a female..good luck
