Should i get rid of my dog

last night my 5 yr old dog killed my 15 week old puppy , they were of the same breed my older dog is not nuetered but i had planned to nuterehim a year ago when i first adopted him , i need to know will nutering him stop him killing my future pets as you can guess i am very upset as he( Arnie) was my life . My boyfriend says we should give him to a shelter and adopt again, but even though i cant even look at him right now I dont mant to lose the two of them please help me and tell me what i should do im not sleeping over it all

I am sorry for the loss of your puppy. I do not ever recommend turning an animal into a shelter, especially one who has dog aggresion problems. He will be gassed or euthenzies immediatly.

Neutering will help with some of his dominance, but he may never stop wanting to harm other dogs. I can not tell you if neutering will solve your problems. My suggestion is that you do not bring home any other dogs while you have Arnie, period. He is obviously dog aggressive. Unfortunatly there is just not enough information for me to be able to help you with Why he is so aggressive, or if theres anything that can be done training wise. But please dont put another puppy with him!
