swollen area around sore on leg

4 days ago my german shepherd, Luger, had a long romp at the beach, shortly after I noticed him limping and an open sore on his leg. It was is right on the scar wound from an injury 4 years ago. It looks like a roundish piece of "meat" and it is swollen around it and feels like there is fluid around it as well. Treated it with ice packs and peroxide and neosporin and had him lay low for a couple of days. Seemed better was up and running and the inflamation was almost all gone. It is now back and he is limping again and has a temp of 103...help..trying to treat this at home due to lack of funds right now...Marla and Luger

Keep cleaning it and use an antibiotic cream as well....He probably needs to be on antibiotics..Call the vet who treated him for the sore leg and tell him you are short of funds but that the wound seems to have opened up... maybe he will give you a reduced price...
