My year old lab biting problems

Question
Dear Melissa,

      I have a one year old chocolate lab.  We have had him since he was a puppy.  My question is that he has bitten my dad and I once each.  It happens in the morning and he usually is playing with something he shouldnt be playing with like a rug, pillow, or clothe.  When I would go to grab it from him he would growl at me and then as I would take it away from him he would get furious and bite and nip at me.  I would get upset and yell at him and he would back down right away.  He then would lay down and try to lick me knowing he did something wrong.  He has only done thins twice and I need some help on what to do.

Sincerely,
Paul

Answer
Paul;
Yes, you are going to need to get him into an "Obedience" class...he is now becoming an adult male, and I assume from this information, he is still intact.
I would also, consider getting him neutered right away.
You are not a Breeder, I assume, and it will make a "Night and Day" difference in his attitude.
He is challenging you as his Pack Leader and someone will not win....it may be you one day!
So, be aware, this is a ticking "Time bomb"...don't delay, get the help you need.
Best regards,
Melissa
