FOOD & TRAINING

Question
Hi!  I have a MaltiPoo she is 6 1/2 months old and I feed her Royal Cannin Puppy Food (33) I think.  Is this a good food and if not what is the best food to give her.  I would like to take her for training and I didn't realize she should have been going months back.  She is an indoor trained puppy for potty.  She was a very sweet dog and for the most part still is, but she wants to bite us all the time.  I know she is still teething but she is aggressive at times.  Also, when ever she is approached or sees a dog she barks at them no matter what size.  She never used to do that she used to want to kiss and sniff them.  She has been different since her first grooming.  I used to be able to brush her everyday at least 3 times a day now she won't let me she tries to bite me the whole time, not so much when I'm brushing her back but her feet and head & face are a nightmare to take care of.  I've had one place say to train her alone and another says she needs to be with other pets.  So I'm confused. If you can help in these matters it would be greatly appreciated.  Thank You And Have A Nice Day!

Sincerely,

Sandra

Answer
I would suggest a class.  That would give her a chance to learn to stay on task around other dogs.  The key to most behavior problems is approaching things using the dog's natural instincts. Dogs see all the people and dogs in the household as a pack with each having their own rank in the pack and a top dog. Life is much easier if the 2 legged pack members outrank the 4 legged ones. You can learn to play the role of top dog by reading some books or going to a good obedience class. A good obedience class or book is about you being top dog, not about rewarding standard commands with a treat.
