Chorkie urine

Question
I have a 2 yr old Chorkie that I recently adopted. He is roughly 5 lbs, neutered
in the past 2 months. When he urinates, sometimes it takes him a whle or he
has little crusties in the hair by his wee wee. I have never owned a dog
before, and am not sure if this is a sign of crystals in the bladder or perhaps
a change of food is in order, or if you've ever seen this in your grooming
experience and think it is more severe. I know this is complicated and
medical, but i hope you may have experience with it.

Answer
I'm not sure what you mean by "sometimes it takes him awhile" (to urinate). If you ever see that your dog is not having a good strong stream when he is urinating, he must be seen by a veterinarian immediately! He could have a bladder infection or a partial blockage from bladder stones.

If he is a fuzzy dog, you do need to keep his sheath clean, and this is easier if the hair is kept shorter on the end of it.
