Question
Sarah here is one for you! Preblasted coming from bone marrow - 8yr old rottie lab work came back normal except red & white  she has anemia and it is coming from her bone marrow . Pathology viewed her lab work. What does preblasted mean?

Answer
well Blasted means the cells have budded and divided and developed their distinguishing characteristics.  A Preblasted cell would therefore be one that is still in the immature stage before this occurs.
It would be relevant in a blood work up because all blood cells stem from a common group of cell known as blast cells.  These develop almost at random into the various types of red and white blood cells.
Hope this helps
Sarah
