small apartment...

I am thinking about getting a dog. I live in a small, one room apartment in a city - but as I am a crew coach, I am outside every day and could take my dog with me (so it would have to be one okay with water!). I haven't owned a dog since I was a kid but have wanted one again. I prefer large or medium sized dogs but know that may not be possible with a smaller apartment... I live in a very dog-friendly city and neighborhood and know lots of people around here have larger dogs (there's a dog park just a couple of blocks away). Do you have any suggestions as to breed or what kind of shelter I might go to; where I could get the right kind of dog (if not a shelter), etc?

Thanks for your question.  I would get a black lab or golden retriver.  They are both medium dogs that love water. I dont know where your from so I cant tell you a shelter that is near.  Any shelter or humane society will do.  Hope this helps.
