Akita Female in heat

Hello, just wanted to ask you, how long it takes for a female Akita to let a stud mount her, we believed she started bleeding last Thursday or Friday 20th or 21st.

Dear Eddie,

Thank you for writing to me about your Akita.

For every heat cycle that a female dog experiences, her chances for breast cancer grow monumentally!!!!  That applies to other cancers as well, but particularly breast cancer.  It's best to have her spade as soon as possible.

Additionally, for every puppy born, there is one less home for a dog waiting on death row, including purebred Akitas.  It is best to enjoy your dog and rescue another Akita, if you want to expand your canine family.

I know that you will decide to do what's best for the health of your dog and for the heart breaking over population problem.
