dog behavior after being nutuered

my dog is a little over a year we had him nutuered he used to play. and liked to go outside. i have a 3 month old female boxer that he loved to play with now all he does is growl at her and sometimes attacks. he lays around all the time. and has no energy. he seems really depressed. its been about a week since his surgery. is this normal and will he get over it

Yes, he just had fairly major surgery. It will probably take a couple weeks for him to feel up to par again- just like anyone who goes through surgery. He is probably still feeling the affects of the anastetic.
