Induced Heat for Breeding

Question
Hello and God Bless, I am the pet human owned by Truffles (Tuffy) and want to ask a question. I would like to breed my owner but she has not had a normal heat cycle. Is there a medication that can be given to her by her Doctor to induce this event? Please help as my owner is up in age and I would want some one from her lineage to be my new owner if something was to happen to her (God Forbid). Please let me know if you can help or possibly know of someone who can. My owner, Tuffy, saved my life when our home burned and I want to make sure she has every chance to be a Momma! Answer
There probably are a few hormonal therapies that you could discuss with your vet, but they are likely to be very expensive.  If she is not going into heat, your first step is to get her an exam to make sure she doesn't have anything wrong with her that is preventing her from coming into estrus (e.g. hypothyroidism).  Every dog is different but most dogs will have one-two heat cycles a year, every 6-12 months.  This is definitely something you would want to consult your vet about, as any medication that could induce her heat cycle is likely to be by prescription only, and just like with people hormonal therapies have risks involved that definitely need to be considered.
