Question
i have a small toy chihuahua and she just had 3 new born puppies yesterday.  the puppies are about 2 oz. they dont have enough strength to suck on the nipple to get any milk. how are we able to feed them to keep them alive?

Answer
Leslie-

You need to tube feed them. Unfortunatly, this can be very dangerous if you do not know how, and I am very nervous to try to explain it to you over the internet, because if you mess up, you will be drowning the puppies.

You need to contact a vet and come in IMMEDIATLY so they can show you how to tube feed. Once you know how, it will be very easy and you can do it quickly and safely until their strength comes back.

Unfortunatly, if they have gone 24 hours without food, they may not have a chance, especially if they didnt get any of the colostrum in the first few hours. They need to eat every 90minutes to 2 hours to stay alive. Please, get them to the vet IMMEDIATLY, and make sure you are keeping them warm and toasty until then.

Good luck with them... I really hope they make it.
