Male sperm potency

Question
How old is a male puppy when its sperm is potent?  We have two Jack Russells and our female, Molly, is 2 yrs. old and our male, Cody, is 9 months old.  In December, we caught Cody, at 6 mos. of age, with a full erection and dripping. Cody had obviously been with Molly.   We bought Cody to breed with Molly (but not until he was at least a year old).  Molly was in heat, at the time. Molly isn't pregnant and we have learned to keep them apart when she goes in heat in June. So, we were just wondering if Cody's sperm could have been potent at that age.  Thank you.

At that age, yes.  
If you do breed your dogs, please make sure that you are doing it for all the right reasons.  Finding good homes is a big part of it.
