Bald Elbows?

Question
Hello There!

I was just wondering if you know what is wrong if a dog's elbows go bald, I have 3 dogs, a Rottweiler %26 2 Labradors, and the black labradors elbows seem not to have any hair on it...
The Golden labrador doesn't have MUCH hair on her elbow,
And the Rottweiler's is fine.

The labradors arn't KC registered but as far as we know they're pure Canadian labs. The  but the rottweiler is KC and purebred.

They're all 3 years old, all in Pretty good condition no medical issues. The labs seems to be SLIGHTLY overweight and the Rottie is average.

The black labs skin also seems abit dry on the elbow.
Also is it bad if dog's foot pads are dry? In our garden we have artificial grass, so it's dry most of the time unless it rains, which means they're getting dry scratchy paws, although we take them for runs in the park and walks and stuff, it's also painful when they come up for a cuddle or something because it scratches our skin. Is there anything we could apply to their paws that doesn't cost an awful deal of money?

Thanks very much

Ramona

Answer
Hello Ramona;
I will give you the first answer, but, it doesn't mean it is correct.
They are sitting on a hard surface, as this is causing them to become bald, like a callous.
The dogs will retain hair, when they are on a softer surface.
I can tell you if they are scratching, they could have a skin disorder, like Mange!
Then you need to take them to the vet, to get a skin scraping and see if they have this problem!
They will need bathing with a special soap and some antibiotics to get rid of the problem.
If it is just an environmental issue, the special soap will help, plus additional fish oil additive for the dryness the skin on the body and the pads and will help grow the hair back and relieve the dryness of the skin!
So, either way you need to get them to your vet, to see what specifically is going on.
Best wishes,
And I hope this helps!
