Question
Hi! We have a wonderful 7 month old Saint Bernard pup (we've had him for 3 months now). His very sweet and mild tempered, and has graduated puppy school. At times he gets all riled up (usually our other dog starts it), and will go flying across the room, rearranging furniture, jumping off the back of the couches, and will knock over anyone in his way )he's already 75 pounds). I know he's playing, but is there a way to get him to calm down quickly and not get so wild whenever he starts playing in the house? Thank You!

Answer
Dear Sharon

Dogs will form their own behavior unless we as owners develop their innate Will to Serve. Dogs are not born with good manners. You will need to continue his proper education. The best way I have found to train companion dogs is to use psychological training methods.

Humans send their children to school to learn how to function in society, every culture teaches children their behavioral boundaries. Dogs need there territorial and behavioral boundaries defined. A dogs mind is best developed using a psychological training philosophy. C.W. Meisterfeld has developed such a training philosophy based on his personal experience. I have used his training techniques to successfully reprogram my behavioral problem dog

If you don't develop the mind of a dog it will form it's own behavior based on the law of survival or Will to Power. The use of dominant training techniques can destroy the Will to Serve in many dogs especially those that have a high Will to Power when they are born.
