Question
We have a chihuahua / jack russel mixed.Very hyperactive small breed but when we take him to groomers he has tried to bite. He hasn't yet but they refuse to groom him. I have been told to give drugs to get him done. He's 4 years old and a very obedient
pup till now,what went wong...HELP

Answer
First of all, I would *NEVER* consider drugging a dog to get it groomed. There is something seriously wrong if that is the only way they think they can groom your dog. They don't sound like they have a lot of experience! Besides, what is there to do to your dog besides cut the nails and give him a bath?

That said, your guy might be testing the waters. I have seen some dogs suddenly try to assert themselves around the age of four when they reach full maturity. (And many will try to see how far they can go with new groomers; that is not at all uncommon.) I would look in the telephone book for a Certified Master Groomer in your area, and certainly consider getting your guy into some good training classes to reinforce that people are the boss and he isn't.
