puppies scooting across floor

Hi Dawn. I have a question and I know I heard the answer before, but i forget.  What does it mean when your puppy scoots its bottom across the floor and what can i do to prevent it.  I have a almost 2 year maltest and now a baby maltest about 14/15 weeks old.  trying to get her potty trained to outside or potty pads as well.

Hi, there are two possibilities for a dog scooting its' rear.  One is that the dog might have worms, and the other is that his anal sacs (on both sides of his anus) may be slightly impacted.  You can take a stool sample in to be checked for worms, and if either one keeps scooting, you can take them into the vet and get the sacs expressed.   Hope this helps,
