My sister owns a young, healthy greyhound. I was wondering if this dog is fast enough to beat certain species of horses in a race.

Greyhounds run anywhere from 37 to 42 mph.

Thoroughbred runs about 35 to 40 mph

Sprinters like quarter horses have been clocked at close to 45 mph

and African dogs run 45 mph
