Question
My 2 year old boxer just gave birth to 10 healthy puppies two days ago. She has been having alot of bleeding and my question is, can she get pregnant again after just giving birth? We are going to have her spayed after her milk dries up.

Answer
Hi Michelle;
Better call your Veterinarian about that.
I know cats can get pregnant almost immediately after they give birth.
We slipped up on my daughter's cat, and she had kittens. I helped her feed her kittens, starting at 4 weeks old, I fed them a little kitten formula mixed into Gerber's rice baby cereal, the dry kind, and made it pretty liquid so I could help them eat it, and by a week, had them eating that well enough to take her to our Vet and get her spayed.
She would have to stay overniught and the kittens could go without nursing that long. I took her in, the Vet examined her and said, "I can't spay her, she is too far along with another litter".
Watching her as closely as possible, it took two years to get her spayed.
After the second litter, she was run down, so we started building her up.
She showed no signs of being in season, but she had litter after litter.
Almost drove us nuts.
With that many puppies, you may want to suppliment feed them with some puppy formiula, to help her maintain her stamina while she is nursing.
