Question
Dear Susan,
I'm 13 years old and am finally allowed to get my own dog! We have two dogs of our own, an nine year old dachshund and a three year old border collie cross. I would like a puppy so I could be with it through its whole life, but I also would like to get an adult dog.
I have been doing research but I'm not sure what age I would like to get... could you could help me out? I would appreciate if you could give me some benefits of having on having a puppy or adult. I also was open to getting an older dog, but resent experiences have told me and can't handle death well. So I would like to have a longer time with my dog.
    Please help me out,
Thanks
-April

Answer
April,

That is personal preference.  All ages of dogs are special, it depends on what you put into owning a dog.  Young dogs need a lot of training as where older dogs may need special medical care.

Any age you choose will be great.
I like puppies myself because I great to train them.
