Question
11 month old Min Pin has been using doggie door for 7 months to do her business. Now that the weather has turned cold and snowy, she is peeiong and pooping in our living room now. She has a doggie sweater on and still goes outside but will come back in to crap. HELP!!!

Answer
As I've said many times, doggie doors do not mean a dog is housebroken... it just lets them go in and out at will. Your problem is that your dog is not truly housebroken and you need to work on training her more. (I mean...REALLY... who wants to go out and crouch in a snowdrift?)

Lock that doggie door and go out with your dog and WATCH her to see when she potties so that you can praise her for appropriate behavior. If she doesn't go when you think she should, put her in her crate when you come back inside and try her again in half an hour or so. Take her out after waking, eating, etc. just as you did when she was a baby.

And be sure you shovel a "dog biffy" area for her to go in. Small dogs particularly are not going to fight the snow in order to find a suitable spot to eliminate.
