Question
I was recently going to receive a Chihuahua from a friend. they decided to keep it because on a white 'V' shape on the dogs back. they were told that it will bring good luck (they are Vietnamese). i was trying to look it up online but i didn't have any luck. would you happen to know what it really means or where i could find some info on it.
Thanks!
Tami

Answer
Hi Tami,

Markings of any kind are purely genetic and pure chance. You can interpret a marking to be anything you'd like: lucky, unlucky, or anything in between. But that doesn't make it so. It's purely a belief, and not rooted in science.

The "V" shape on the dog's back has no meaning, it's nothing but a random color pattern that happens to look like a "V" shape. But if these people believe it's a sign of luck, then, to them it is. You can't argue with it, anymore than you can argue with them to change their religion.

There are plenty of good dogs out there in need of a loving home. If you want a dog, www.petfinders.com is an excellent place to browse adoptable dogs of all breeds and ages.

Best of luck,

Patti
