Question
We just adopted a 2 yr old doxie/chi mix. She only weighs 5 lbs and is very shy. The first problem is that she runs away from us if we go to pick her up. She is not aggressive and very kind. When she is laying down, we can usually get her and we hold her and pet her. She loves us and the petting but when we put her down, it's a bugger to catch her again. This brings us to the house training problem. If she starts doing her potty inside and we go to pick her up to put her outside, well it is impossible to pick her up to get her out the door. She runs away from us. The other problem we have is we live in northern Mich and it is very cold out. She does not like to go outside at all and when I go out there with her she just stands there and shivers but won't do anything. I hate to be out there with her in this cold for longer than 3 minutes. She has pee pads around the house but won't use them. We have 2 other doxies that are trained fine to go out but we got them in warm weather and they are not shy. We have only had the dog for 2 days but I need to start things out right. Her foster parents said she went on the pee pads about 90% of the time but won't go on them here. Any help will be really appreciated. Thanks, gale

Answer
Well, what you can do is put a leash on her,so it'll be easier to get a hold of her,and keep her out side until she does what she has to do

As for the cold, there's doggie coat and sweaters, some dogs need them when it gets cold, and there's pleanty to chose from

I hope this helped
