Containing a dog to certain rooms

Question
I have a 3 yr old Siberian Husky.  We just moved to a new home and I am trying to confine my dog to two of the rooms (one of which has a dog door to the outside) while we are away from the home or asleep.  Neither of the rooms have doors that can shut them off from the rest of the house.  I have tried putting up child gates, but my dog just keeps on jumping over them.  Do you have any suggestions on what I can do to keep him confined to the two rooms, so that he cannot roam around the house all day while we are gone?  I would like for him to be able to roam around with us when the gates are open and we are home, but be trained to stay in the rooms when the gates are shut.

Thank you in advance for your advice!

Answer
Hi Nicole,  You have a very hard situation on your hands.  Siberians are notorious for being escape artists.  They are very hard to confine, even in 6' fenced yard.  They are excellent at climbing almost anything.  I really can't think of anything that would keep him in (unless you went to extreme measures and got a shock collar) except just having a door up.  I wish I could be of more help, but Siberians are almost impossible to keep confined in a situation like that.

Wish I could be of more help,
