Question
My dog is three months old shes very tiny the weather now In newyork is pretty hot, she has her shots, is it ok for her to go outside now?

Answer
Hi Arlenis,

Thank you for writing to me about your new puppy.  If your vet has given the ok because her basic shots have been completed then I see no reason not to take her outside.  Just be aware that the pavement gets very hot (as does anything metal on the ground) so try to stay on the shady side of the street.  Additionally I would avoid the dog runs at this point unless there is a small dog run near you where you could take her for some socialization.  Since puppies have no manners, and tend to miss signals that other dogs give off to stop annoying them, which can lead to a fight, it would be good to take her during off hours so you can monitor her carefully.  You also didn't mention the breed.  Some breeds with the pushed in faces, like pugs and bulldogs, do not do well in hot weather and need to go out briefly and then back to the air conditioned apartment.

Be sure to carry some cool water for your dog and keep a close eye on her breathing and energy level.
