Determining chihuaha puppies sex

I rencently purchased a "female" chihuahua puppy. I think my female might be a male. She humps my leg and her stuff toys. Her genitals putrude out. I took her to the vet for her initial well visit and they did not say thay she was not female how can is be sure?

Kurinne, I'm not sure I understand what you mean when you say "her genitals protrude out." Could you explain, or possibly take pictures and e-mail to me at blueridgerescue @ gmail.com? Did you actually ASK them at the vet's office if she was, in fact, a female?

Just because a dog humps things does not mean it's male. Dogs of both sexes exhibit humping behavior. It does not have anything to do with sex, but rather dominance. If your puppy is already exhibiting this behavior, it could be a sign that she does not respect you. I would recommend enrolling her in an obedience course.
